Maintenance and care of die-casting molds

2024-05-02

Die-casting molds are important process equipment in die-casting production, with high precision, high cost, high material consumption and long manufacturing cycle. The quality of mold use and maintenance has a great impact on the quality of castings and the service life of the mold. The purpose of mold maintenance and care is to improve die-casting production efficiency, reduce production costs, and increase the service life of the mold.

Establish a mold use technical card to record the daily production situation, working conditions, number of repairs, damage forms, service life, cumulative number of castings produced and qualified rate of the mold.

After the mold trial inspection is qualified, a qualified certificate shall be issued and the mold use technical card and qualified samples shall be filled in, and the mold shall be stored together with the mold. The mold shall be cleaned before storage, and all parts shall be coated with rust inhibitor.

Old mold storage: The mold shall be fully cleaned after use, the surface of the parts shall be coated with rust inhibitor, and the overall record card of the mold shall be filled in to record the overall part size, and the casting sample before the mold is modified shall be attached for inspection. The last production sample shall be retained for each periodic production of the mold so as to compare and analyze the products produced twice.

Before removing the old mold from the machine, it must be lubricated and wiped clean to ensure smooth movement of the movable core. When replacing a new mold, the mold must be preheated to the required temperature before production before it can be used.

Minimize the rapid cooling and heating of the mold as much as possible, and try to produce continuously. High-speed injection is strictly prohibited in the cold mold state; try to reduce the injection speed and specific pressure as much as possible to reduce mold impact; the seal and aluminum skin that appear during the use of the mold must be cleaned in time to prevent the mold from being squeezed; try to reduce the aluminum liquid pouring temperature to increase the service life of the mold; strengthen the maintenance of the mold, regularly maintain it, and regularly temper the mold cavity to relieve stress.
